My 2018 Holiday Table

Anyone else out there just now thinking about place settings for the holiday table? We do Christmas Eve dinner (after the children’s church service) and then are total sloths on Christmas day making my grandmother’s Monkey Cake and bacon and eating leftovers and snacks the rest of the day. So I really am last minute considering I’m setting the table tomorrow! I found these jingle bells from Sugar Paper (a fav of mine) x Target (my mecca) and I knew I had my inspo. I love that it’s a total departure from our Christmas table last year.

Yes, I wrapped my plates and chargers like a present (with beautiful ribbon)! My cloth white dinner napkins looked a little bulky with this delicate¬†ring, so I opted for the paper dots, which looked a lot cuter and less plain- and they’re much easier when it comes to clean up!

I really like the idea of making the centerpiece entirely out of wrapped presents in your color scheme so I did a mock up for you here of our actual gifts, just imagine them more spread out and lining the center of the table (I was too lazy, tired and sick to move all of my houses, bring all of the presents down from the attic and set the whole table in my ten minute time span before Lilly returned home but you get the idea!). And, as much as I’d like to, I won’t dare decorate with them tomorrow because I’d be heckled every two minutes about what is inside and when can she open them. Plus, it kinda ruins the whole Santa thing. So, if you have an adult dinner party, older kids or you get and exchange gifts to and from lots of others- or you do faux presents- you can actually decorate with presents! It makes for such a stunning (and themed!) space. Plus, it’s affordable decor since you already have the boxes, bags, wrapping, ribbon, etc.

Whether you’ve had it planned for awhile, are a lazy procrastinator like me, eat in or out… I hope you have a very happy holiday!
